The Uxbridge Spartans field hockey team has been soaring all season and has only turned up the pressure in the D3 playoffs. Uxbridge opened its postseason against Apponequet and delivered a statement 8-0 victory in the opener, with eight different players finding the back of the net in a complete team effort.
The Spartans followed that with an even more impressive 9-0 win over Marlborough, a second-round romp in which Amelia Blood and Julianna Casucci each scored hat tricks. Aubrey Bouchard, Addie Blood, and Mia Ouellette also contributed goals as Uxbridge continued to overwhelm opponents.
In the Quarterfinals against No. 8 Scituate, Uxbridge produced a similar result, crushing the Sailors 9-0. Julianna Casucci recorded another hat trick while Amelia Blood dished three assists. Addie Blood, Ava Rosborough, Aubrey Bouchard, Aubrey Beland, and Brooklyn Kaferlein also tallied goals, further underscoring the Spartans’ depth.
Through the quarterfinals, Uxbridge has outscored opponents 26-0 and looks every bit the favorite as it prepares for a semifinal showdown with Watertown. Watertown opened its tournament with a 5-0 win over Swampscott and then posted a 2-0 victory over Gloucester and a 2-1 win over Medfield, making tomorrow’s 7 PM semifinal a genuine test of whether anyone can slow Uxbridge’s march toward another title.
