MASSACHUSETTS – If you have a heat pump with your electrical service, National Grid says starting this month most customers will receive a discount through the company’s new “heat pump” delivery rate.
The new rate is designed to help offset higher winter electricity use that comes with running a heat pump instead of fossil fuel heating. National Grid says the change applies even if customers are on a community aggregation supply rate through their town — the two programs work seamlessly together.
Officials emphasize that rates will not increase for those who do not have heat pumps, but those customers will not see as much savings as heat pump users.
