The Hopedale Blue Raiders boys’ golf team closed a strong regular season and turned in a noteworthy performance at the D3 Championship on Monday. Hopedale entered the postseason at 14-2 and riding a three-match winning streak, and the Blue Raiders finished fifth as a team with a score of 344.

Individually, Colin Haynes led the way for Hopedale with a 76 overall, a mark good enough for second place in the tournament. Haynes finished just behind Seekonk’s Aidan Connell, who posted a 74, and Haynes’ result underscored a season in which he medaled at numerous meets and established himself as one of the state’s top performers.

Brady Wajda and Jacob Whyte also turned in strong rounds that contributed to Hopedale’s team total and helped position the program inside the top tier of the D3 field. The team’s 344 placed between Manchester-Essex (341) and Tewksbury (347), a tight cluster that highlights the competitive depth of the event.

Hopedale should be proud of the finish, and several of its top players, Haynes foremost among them, will be factors in remaining individual competitions before the season concludes. The program’s collective effort at the D3 Championship bodes well for the off-season and upcoming individual showcases.
