Westborough’s Affordable Housing Trust is having to clamp down on applications for the Westborough Rental Assistance Program after officials reportedly flagged four fraudulent applications. The Community Advocate reports officials were able to stop payments totaling more than $18,000 to the fake applicants that were apparently from out of state. Going forward the Affordable Housing Trust will require applicants to be referred from a designated social service agency such as Youth and Family Services.
