By MyFM’s Claire Beverly – With holiday parties getting into full swing, Hopkinton Police are reminding you about the state’s “social host laws”, particularly when it comes to underage drinking. HPD Detective Sgt. Gregg DeBoer tells the Hopkinton Independent that any adult or minor who is “in control” of a property and either supplies alcohol or allows it to be consumed by minors on that property can be held responsible, both in criminal courts and in law suits and it applies even if you were not aware the kids were drinking on your property. DeBoer says the law also includes adults who over-consume and drive drunk.
