By MyFM’s Claire Beverly – Mendon voters have said no to a tax override to pay for a new senior and community center. Final results from the Town Clerk show it was a narrow loss, 1941 votes for, to 1869 against, the proposal, which would have cost the average taxpayer $130 a year to raise $11.1 million for the new building. The Daily News reports this was the second time this year Mendon voters said no to it after a slightly more expensive version of it failed in last spring’s election. Officials say the current building is too small for the existing senior population with 28% of Mendon now over the age of 60.
