By MyFM’s Marissa Santos – Maureen Amyot, the director of the Westborough Public Library, selflessly donated a kidney to a stranger, offering the gift of health this holiday season. Inspired by the stories of a Northborough man in need of a kidney and an old friend requiring a liver transplant, Amyot decided to contribute something positive in a world filled with negativity. The extensive testing process, completed in May, confirmed her compatibility. In October, the successful kidney transplant took place at Tufts Medical Center, benefiting both the recipient and another individual in a paired donation. Amyot hopes her experience will inspire others to consider organ donation.
