NORTHBRIDGE – A Northbridge man has pleaded guilty to manslaughter in connection with the shooting death of his brother last year.

Prosecutors said Christopher Lacour had consumed several alcoholic drinks while spending time with his brother, Jon Lacour, when he pointed a legally registered handgun at him as a joke. Authorities say Lacour did not realize a round remained in the chamber when the firearm discharged.

Lacour was sentenced to five months of probation, must undergo substance abuse treatment, and is permanently prohibited from possessing firearms.
