MEDWAY – Medway Police have launched a new initiative aimed at helping residents better understand the rules and potential dangers surrounding electric bikes, scooters and other increasingly popular motorized devices.
The new Ride Smart Medway initiative comes as police say the growing use of the devices has raised concerns about unsafe speeds, traffic laws, where different devices are permitted and whether younger riders fully understand the risks involved.
Over the next several weeks, Medway Police plan to release additional information for both riders and parents explaining the different types of devices, applicable rules and ways to use them more safely.
