MEDWAY – The Medway Police Department is working on a new policy addressing e-bikes and other micromobility devices as their popularity continues to grow.

Police Chief William Kingsbury said concerns raised by officers prompted the department to begin researching how other communities are handling e-bike safety and regulation. He tasked the department’s Operations Commander and School Resource Officer Supervisor with reviewing best practices and potential safety concerns.

Kingsbury says residents can expect additional public information in the coming weeks as well as a formal town policy aimed at improving safety for riders, pedestrians, and motorists.
