HOPKINTON – Water conservation measures in Hopkinton are expected to become even more important as two municipal wells remain out of service.
The Hopkinton Water and Sewer Department says Wells #7 and #8 are currently offline following a mechanical failure. A contractor is scheduled to begin installing a replacement pump in Well #7 on Monday, with repairs expected to take approximately six days, weather permitting.
With the town already under a Mandatory Water Supply Conservation order, officials are reminding residents connected to the municipal water system that all non-essential outdoor water use is prohibited. The Department of Public Works says conserving water during this period is critical to maintaining adequate supplies for public health needs and fire protection.
