HOPKINTON – Hopkinton officials are considering updates to the town’s common victualer license policy that would increase oversight of restaurant licensing. The Select Board is reviewing a draft proposal that would require background checks for owners and managers, including checks of sex offender registries.
The proposal would also consider whether establishments have generated complaints involving traffic, parking, noise, or large crowds gathering outside. According to the Hopkinton Independent, the changes would shift more licensing authority from police oversight to Town Hall administration.
