The Hopkinton Historical Society has accepted a donation of artifacts from the family of a World War I general. Michael Greene is the great-grandson of Brig. General Michael Joseph Linehan. The Hopkinton Independent reports the donated items include a ceremonial sword and a loving cup that the Town presented to General Linehan in 1919. Linehan, who was reportedly the first West Point graduate from Hopkinton, served on the Western Front, commanding the 83rd Infantry Brigade, 42nd Division.
