A business owner from Hopkinton has been sentenced to a year in prison for not paying excise taxes on his store products. The Middlesex District Attorney’s Office says when Ashram Youssef ran AAA Smoke and Vape Shop in Marlborough from 2020 to 2022, he failed to pay $467,000 in excise taxes. He pleaded guilty Monday to three counts of attempted tax evasion. He will have to serve six months of the year sentence in the Middlesex County House of Corrections after which he will be on probation for five years. Youssef also ran vape shops in Sudbury and Whitinsville.
