HOLLISTON – With warmer weather bringing more people to local trails, Holliston Police are reminding residents about the rules governing e-bike use on rail trails.

Officials say Class 2 e-bikes and lower are permitted on the trails, but riders must keep speeds below 20 miles per hour. More powerful Class 3 e-bikes, electric motorcycles, mopeds, and other motorized vehicles are not allowed.

To help residents understand the differences between various types of e-bikes, the department has posted an informational graphic on its social media channels. Police say the goal is to improve safety for cyclists, pedestrians, and other trail users during the busy summer season.
