FRANKLIN – An update on the cleanup of Franklin’s active Superfund site at 300 Fisher Street is expected during this week’s Town Council meeting.
According to the Town Manager, significant progress has been made over the past decade, including the demolition of a dangerous building and the removal of a substantial amount of contaminated soil.
Cleanup efforts slowed during the COVID-19 pandemic, but the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency has indicated that work is moving forward once again. The EPA plans to hold a public meeting later this year to gather comments on the future use of the property.
