FRANKLIN – Demand for food assistance continues to grow in Franklin, with the Franklin Food Pantry reporting a significant increase in the number of people turning to the organization for help.

The Pantry’s newly released Fiscal Year 2026 Annual Impact Report shows use of its services increased by 28% over the previous year. The number of children receiving food assistance increased even faster, rising by 35%.

The Pantry says the increase comes as families continue to face financial pressures and changes to food assistance programs. According to the organization, more than 61,000 children across Massachusetts have lost access to SNAP benefits since July 2025, contributing to hundreds of local families seeking additional assistance from food pantries.

The Franklin Food Pantry says the numbers highlight the growing need for reliable access to nutritious food throughout the community.
