FRANKLIN – Several Franklin firefighters and police officers have been recognized with the EMS Service/Organization of the Year Award from the Central Mass EMS Corporation for their response to a life-threatening emergency involving a baby last year.

Officials say the first responders worked together seamlessly after baby Gianna stopped breathing, and credited their teamwork for helping create a positive outcome. Gianna and her mother attended Tuesday’s award presentation honoring the departments’ efforts.
