By MyFM’s Claire BeverlyA former Milford-area doctor has been sentenced to three years in prison for money laundering in connection with importing illegal, misbranded drugs into the US.  The US Attorney’s Office says Rahim Shafa of Lexington, a psychiatrist who also worked in Milford and Natick was sentenced Friday by a federal judge.  Earlier this year Shafa was convicted of international money laundering, illegally importing merchandise and receiving and delivering misbranded drugs through his company called Novel Psychopharmacology. Prosecutors say he brought in implants and injections from Hong Kong that are not approved for use by the US FDA by falsifying shipping documents.
