BOSTON – Boston Scientific has issued a recall of certain AXIOS stents used to treat gallbladder and pancreatic conditions.
Company officials say that since December, they have been tracking issues involving the stent mechanism failing to extend properly during installation. The complications have been linked to three deaths and several injuries.
The company emphasized that the issue occurs only during the placement procedure and does not affect patients who already have a stent that was successfully inserted.
