BELLINGHAM – A Bellingham man injured in an electric scooter crash last week has died. Police identified the victim as Darrell Maxfield, who was involved in a collision with a vehicle on South Main Street on May 17 around 5:30 p.m.
Maxfield was flown to a trauma center, where officials say he later passed away Tuesday. Police Chief Ken Fitzgerald told the Daily News that the driver involved will not face charges because witnesses reported Maxfield had unexpectedly swerved into the vehicle’s path, leaving the driver no time to avoid the collision.
