WESTBOROUGH – Amazon deliveries could eventually be arriving by air in several MetroWest communities under a proposal being considered in Westborough.
Amazon Air has asked the Westborough Select Board for permission to install a Prime Air Drone Delivery Center at its facility on Otis Street, according to the Community Advocate.
The proposed service would make drone deliveries in Westborough, Grafton and Marlborough using Amazon’s MK30 drones. The aircraft has six blades and measures approximately 5×5 feet.
Residents should not expect drones to begin making deliveries immediately. The Select Board discussion represents an early step in what is expected to be a lengthy approval process before the proposed service could begin operating locally.
