WRENTHAM — Wrentham Recreation is preparing for its annual Wrentham Day celebration on Saturday, Sept. 12, bringing a full day of recreation, competition and community activities to the Town Common and Sweatt Park.
The event will run from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. and feature live music, local vendors, kid’s activities, Touch-a-Truck, food, beverages and snacks. The day will also include the Lions Club’s well-known banana split and appearances by Benjamin the Clown with magic tricks, juggling and balloons.
One of the main events will be the Wrentham Wroad Wrace, a 5K starting and finishing at Wrentham Common. Race-day check-in opens at 7:30 a.m., with the race beginning at 9 a.m.
Registration for the race is $30 through Sept. 11, with the price increasing to $35 afterward. The course is 5,000 meters, or 3.1 miles, and is organized by USA Track & Field. Cash prizes will be awarded to the top male and female finishers, with medals also awarded across eight divisions.
Wrentham Day will also include pickleball round-robin tournaments at Sweatt Park, with an intermediate division scheduled for 11 a.m. and an advanced division at 2 p.m.
Open-play mahjong will also be offered at Sweatt Park from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., giving residents another recreational option during the celebration.
Wrentham Day takes place Saturday, Sept. 12 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., with events spread between the Wrentham Town Common and Sweatt Park. Registration and additional information are available through the Wrentham Recreation Department.
