UXBRIDGE, Mass. — Uxbridge saw its postseason run come down to the final inning Monday, but Narragansett pushed across the go-ahead run in the seventh to escape with a 5-4 victory over the Spartans.

The Spartans outhit the Lady Warriors 6-5 and held a three-run lead midway through the game before Narragansett rallied late.

After Narragansett grabbed a 1-0 lead in the first inning, Uxbridge answered right back when Lola Grube drove in a run with a sacrifice fly. The Spartans then broke through in the third, scoring three runs to take a 4-1 advantage. Katherine Pratt delivered the biggest hit of the inning, clearing the bases with a line drive single.

Narragansett chipped away at the deficit and tied the game in the sixth on an RBI single from Mya MacKay and a sacrifice fly by Bailey Szoc. The Lady Warriors then scored the deciding run in the seventh inning and held on for the win.

Mia Manning led the Uxbridge offense, going 2-for-4 with two runs scored and a double. Grube doubled, drove in a run, and drew two walks, while Pratt finished with two RBIs. Olivia Balicki also added a double for the Spartans.

Pratt was strong in the circle despite the loss, pitching all seven innings and allowing five runs, only one of them earned, while striking out five.

The Spartans battled until the final out, but Narragansett’s late rally proved to be the difference in the one-run contest.
