NORTHBRIDGE, MASS. — Northbridge American Legion Post 343 improved to 3-2 on the season with a 3-1 victory over Cherry Valley Post 443 on Monday night.
Dylan Diosomito sparked the Northbridge offense with an outstanding all-around performance. The leadoff hitter went 2-for-2 with a double, scored two runs, drove in a run, and stole three bases. His ability to get on base and create havoc on the basepaths helped Northbridge generate offense in a tightly contested game.
Matt Coughlin provided the other key hit for Post 343, delivering a single that drove in two runs and accounted for the remaining Northbridge scoring.
The offense gave starting pitcher Luke Charron all the support he would need. Charron turned in a dominant outing on the mound, working six innings while allowing just two hits and one earned run. The right-hander consistently kept Cherry Valley hitters off balance and struck out five batters during his strong performance.
With a two-run lead entering the seventh inning, Northbridge handed the ball to Jackson Manosh, who closed the door on Cherry Valley. Manosh recorded a strikeout while securing the final three outs and earning the save.
Northbridge’s pitching staff combined to limit Cherry Valley to just two hits on the night, continuing a strong trend for Post 343 early in the season. With the victory, Northbridge moves above .500 at 3-2 and continues to build momentum as the American Legion season progresses.
