MILFORD — Milford Post 59 continued its offensive surge Wednesday evening, defeating North County Post 193, 13-3, in the first game of an American Legion Baseball doubleheader.
After plating one run in the second inning, Milford broke the game open with a nine-run third inning, sending 13 batters to the plate and taking complete control. Post 59 added two more runs in the fourth and another in the fifth to end the game early by mercy rule.
Milford pounded out 15 hits in the victory, with Jackson Fournier leading the charge. The center fielder went 4-for-4 with a double, four RBIs, and two runs scored.
Cole McGovern continued the offensive barrage as he collected two hits, two runs scored, and an RBI, while Joey McGee added a pair of hits and drove in a run. Nick Pedroli, Brayden Lewis, Sam Schoenberg, Sean Burchard, and Brady Iarussi each contributed to the balanced offensive effort.
On the mound, Adam Dubowik earned the win in relief, tossing 3.1 innings while allowing just one hit and one earned run with three strikeouts. Ben Maiorano closed things out with 1.1 scoreless innings, striking out two.
North County managed just two hits in the contest. Brodhi Byars and J.J. Walker recorded the lone hits, while Rocky Lora, Andrew Beauregard, and Walker each drove in a run.
With another dominant offensive performance, Post 59 improved to 9-2 on the season, solidifying their grip on 2nd place in the District 4 standings.
