MILFORD, MASS. — Just one day after suffering its first loss of the season, Milford Post 59 responded in emphatic fashion Monday night, overwhelming Vernon Hill Post 435 by a score of 22-3.

After falling to Leominster in a tightly contested pitchers’ duel on Sunday, Milford’s offense erupted for 22 runs on 13 hits, including a pair of massive innings that put the game out of reach. Vernon Hill grabbed an early 1-0 lead in the first inning, but Milford answered with seven runs in the second before breaking the game wide open with a stunning 15-run third inning.

Nearly every player in the lineup contributed to the offensive barrage. Ben Maiorano scored three runs and drove in three more while collecting two hits. Sam Schoenberg had a huge night, finishing with two hits, four RBI, three runs scored, and a home run. Brayden Lewis also went deep and drove in four runs while scoring three times.

Nick Pedroli delivered a triple among his two hits and knocked in two runs, while Brady Wajda added two doubles, two RBI, and two runs scored. Sean Burchard chipped in with a hit and three RBI as Milford’s lineup continuously applied pressure.

On the mound, Jordan Martorano earned the victory in relief, allowing no runs over 1.1 innings. Adam Dubowik tossed a scoreless inning and struck out two as Milford closed out the win.

The victory moves Milford Post 59 back into the win column and showcased the offensive firepower that has made the team one of the area’s top American Legion programs early this season. After being limited to one hit in Sunday’s loss, Milford wasted no time proving it could quickly turn the page and get back on track.
