GRAFTON — Grafton Post 92 continued its strong start to the American Legion Baseball season Tuesday night, rallying late for a dramatic 4-3 walk-off victory over Hudson Post 100.
After three innings of scoreless baseball, Grafton finally broke through in the fourth inning before adding another run in the sixth to take a 2-0 lead. Hudson responded in the top of the seventh, scoring three runs to grab its first lead of the night and put Post 92 on the brink of defeat.
Grafton answered immediately in its final at-bat.
Trailing 3-2 entering the bottom of the seventh, Post 92 pushed across two runs to complete the comeback and secure the one-run victory.
CJ Chagnon led the way both on the mound and at the plate. Chagnon tossed 6.1 strong innings, allowing just three runs on two hits while striking out seven. He also collected two hits and scored twice offensively.
Kyle Brown contributed a pair of hits and drove in a run, while Kellen Caron finished with a hit, an RBI, and a run scored. Ian Ouellette also added a hit for Grafton.
Hudson was held to just three hits on the evening. Anthony Moura and Ben Lamson each recorded a hit, while Charlie Hammel drove in a run. Garrett Mahoney, Ben Lamson, and Jackson Libby scored Hudson’s three runs.
Danny Rauktis picked up the victory in relief for Post 92 after recording the final two outs of the seventh inning.
With the win, Grafton improves to 5-4 on the season, hanging tight in the competitive District 4 standings. They play host to Northbridge Post 343 tonight at 7:00PM.
