Douglas Common Preservation Society Announces 3rd Annual Scarecrow Contest

DOUGLAS – The Douglas Common Preservation Society is inviting the community to get creative this fall with its 3rd Annual Scarecrow Contest, returning to the Douglas Common in October.

The contest is free to enter and open to participants from Douglas and surrounding communities, with organizers confirming that participants do not need to be Douglas residents. Individuals, families, businesses and organizations can create an original scarecrow to display on the Common.

Participants must register by September 30th to reserve a spot. Scarecrows will be displayed from October 10th through November 1st.

Prizes will be awarded to the top three scarecrows, including a $250 Amazon gift card for first place, $150 gift card for second place and $100 gift card for third place. The first 70 entries will also receive a free commemorative gift.

The event is made possible with support from several local sponsors, including Ben’s Container and Rubbish, Guaranteed Builders and Developers Inc., Bob Clark’s Dog Training & Dog Day Care, FJ Cunningham Plastering & Renovations, onebyone, UniBank, East Douglas Insurance Agency, Jared’s Auto Inc., Grafton Works, Gregory’s Restaurant & Pizzeria, In-Gear Transmission Specialists, McGoldrick Property Services LLC and The Sokol Club.

Entries will be evaluated by a panel of community members, with awards scheduled to be presented October 31st at 1 PM on the Douglas Common. Winners do not need to be present for the ceremony.
