MASSACHUSETTS – The state is putting a damper on Amazon’s plans for drone delivery in several MetroWest communities. MassDOT has announced restrictions on Amazon’s proposed program, which would launch drones from its Otis Street facility in Westborough for deliveries around communities including Hopkinton, Upton and Westborough.
Amazon will need to obtain a certificate of approval from MassDOT’s Aeronautics Division before moving forward. That process will include a public hearing. Several local and state lawmakers have already come out against the proposed drone deliveries.
