HOPKINTON – Some convenience store owners are alleging that Hopkinton’s tobacco regulations simply mirror state policy rather than reflecting local opinions. The Hopkinton Independent reports the New England Convenience Store and Energy Marketers Association made the claim following the Town’s adoption of Nicotine Free Generation regulations.

Health Director Sean McAuliffe says the regulations were not simply coordinated with the state. He says the Board of Health held multiple meetings to discuss the local regulations, which were also brought before the Select Board.
