HOPKINTON – The Hopkinton Historical Commission has unanimously voted to designate the Gibson House at 155 Winter Street as historically significant.

The home dates back to before 1831, making it nearly two centuries old.

A public hearing on the property is still pending as part of the process surrounding its potential demolition. The historical significance designation could affect whether and when demolition of the building is allowed to move forward.

The Gibson House will now continue through the town’s review process before its future is determined.
