MILFORD — A Milford mother has created a new online safety program aimed at helping teenagers better understand how to safely operate e-bikes and scooters.
The program, called Teen Rider Academy, was developed after its founder heard repeated stories of young riders being injured while using e-bikes and scooters.
Rather than wait for a formal program to become available, she created a seven-lesson online course designed to give teens practical safety education before heading out on the road.
The course is open for registration and can be accessed online, making it available to families beyond Milford as well.
Registration costs between $15 and $20, depending on the option selected.
Teen Rider Academy is intended to serve as a form of driver’s education for younger riders using e-bikes and scooters, giving them a structured way to learn about safe riding habits before gaining more independence.
The program is now accepting registrations for teens interested in completing the seven-lesson course.
