UPTON – Upton residents will be asked to consider funding major restoration work at the former Holy Angels Church during a Special Town Meeting on September 3rd.

The Special Town Meeting was called through a Citizen’s Petition and will include a vote on a recommendation from the Community Preservation Committee concerning the historic building on Milford Street.

According to the meeting warrant, the former church requires extensive repairs to its roof, steeple, facade and other historically significant exterior features. The proposal would allow the town to undertake restoration work intended to preserve those elements of the building.

If approved, the Upton Historical Commission would oversee the restoration project. Residents will have the opportunity to discuss and vote on the proposal during the September 3rd Special Town Meeting.
