According to the Ashland Fire Chief, the incident began after a canoe reportedly overturned, sending a man into the water. People who were with him were able to pull him to shore before emergency crews arrived.

Firefighters from Ashland and Hopkinton launched a rescue boat to reach the shoreline, then transported the apparently unconscious man to the park’s boat launch. Crews performed CPR while carrying him to a waiting ambulance for transport to the hospital. Officials have not released an update on his condition.
