The decisive moment came in the 58th minute when Pedro Porro finished off a slick passing sequence with Dani Olmo to double Spain’s lead and all but seal a place in the final.
Spain’s defense was once again outstanding, recording another clean sheet while extending the nation’s impressive unbeaten run. The reigning European champions now advance to Sunday’s World Cup Final, where they will have the opportunity to add another major international trophy to their collection.
For France, the defeat ends its bid for a third consecutive World Cup Final appearance. Les Bleus will now turn their attention to the third-place match, which is expected to be Didier Deschamps’ final game in charge of the French national team.
The second semifinal takes place tomorrow at 1 p.m. as England faces defending champion Argentina. England is looking to reach its first World Cup Final since 1966, while Lionel Messi and Argentina aim to keep their hopes of back-to-back World Cup titles alive.
