Norway shocked Brazil with a disciplined performance and a 2-1 victory. Brazil elected to sit back and play on the counterattack, allowing Norway to control 66 percent of possession. Erling Haaland finally broke the deadlock in the 79th minute before adding a second goal later in the match. Brazil managed a late penalty, but it wasn’t enough as Norway advanced to the quarterfinals.
England and Mexico delivered another memorable knockout match despite a weather delay. Mexico controlled much of the play, but Jude Bellingham changed the game in spectacular fashion, scoring twice in just 99 seconds to put England in front. Mexico answered before halftime, and after England’s Jarrell Quansah was sent off in the second half, both teams converted penalties to make it 3-2. Mexico pushed for a late equalizer but couldn’t find it, sending England through to face Norway in the quarterfinals.

European rivals Spain and Portugal square off in Dallas at 3 p.m. before the United States takes on Belgium at 8 p.m. in Seattle. The Americans received a boost ahead of the match as Folarin Balogun’s red card suspension was overturned, making the striker available for selection.
