FRANKLIN — Franklin Post 75 stayed red-hot Thursday evening, cruising to an 11-0 victory behind another explosive offensive performance and dominant pitching.
After three scoreless innings, Franklin broke the game open with a five-run fourth inning before adding four more in the fifth and two in the sixth to secure the mercy-rule win.
The offense produced 12 hits and was led by Patrick Luizzi, who went 3-for-4 with an RBI and two runs scored. Gavin Heneghan continued his strong season with a pair of hits, including a double and a triple, while driving in a run and scoring once. Sean Kryzak also collected two hits, highlighted by a double and a triple, adding an RBI and two runs scored.
DJ Silverstein helped his own cause with a two-run single, while Henry George drove in two runs. Jack Sullivan finished with two hits and an RBI, Joe Goguen knocked in a run, and Jacoby Brown added an RBI as Franklin’s lineup received contributions from top to bottom.
Silverstein was equally impressive on the mound, throwing five shutout innings while allowing just one hit and striking out eight. Brady Ryan closed out the victory with a scoreless sixth inning, allowing one hit and striking out one as Franklin completed the combined two-hit shutout.
Franklin’s aggressive baserunning also played a key role, with Heneghan, Kryzak, Jack Sullivan, and Joe Goguen each stealing a base. The team finished with five extra-base hits, including doubles by Silverstein, Heneghan, and Kryzak, and triples by Heneghan and Kryzak.
The victory keeps Franklin’s perfect season alive. They sit a perfect 7-0 this season while outscoring their opponents 87-3.
