Germany shook off an early scare and delivered one of the most dominant performances of the tournament so far, rolling to a 7-1 victory over Curacao during another exciting day of FIFA World Cup action.

Curacao briefly stunned the Germans by finding an equalizer in the 21st minute, but Germany quickly took control and never looked back. Six different players found the back of the net as the European powerhouse cruised to all three points.

The day’s most entertaining contest came between the Netherlands and Japan. After a tightly contested first half, the teams combined for four goals after the break in a thrilling back-and-forth affair. Japan scored a dramatic late equalizer when a shot from Yuki Ogawa deflected off Daichi Kamada and into the net, securing a 2-2 draw.

Ivory Coast and Ecuador battled through a tense, physical matchup that featured chances at both ends and several shots off the woodwork. Just when it appeared the teams would split the points, Manchester United forward Amad Diallo broke the deadlock in the 90th minute to give Ivory Coast a dramatic 1-0 victory.

Sweden closed out the day in impressive fashion, cruising past Tunisia 5-1. Alexander Isak starred for the Swedes with a goal and two assists in the convincing win.

Attention now turns to another busy day of World Cup action.

Cape Verde faces a daunting challenge against second-ranked Spain in a classic David-versus-Goliath matchup at noon. Belgium’s new generation takes on Egypt and star forward Mohamed Salah at 3 p.m., while Saudi Arabia battles Uruguay at 6 p.m.

The day’s final match kicks off at 9 p.m. as Iran faces New Zealand. The All Whites enter the tournament as the lowest-ranked team in the field at No. 85 in the FIFA World Rankings.
