NORTHBRIDGE — Northbridge Post 343 continued its strong start to the season Thursday night, defeating Northboro Post 234 by an 11-0 score behind a dominant pitching performance and an explosive offense.
Northbridge scored in every inning except the fourth, building an early lead with two runs in the first inning and four more in the second. Post 343 added two runs in the third and capped the scoring with three runs in the fifth to end the game early.
The offense was led by Jack Marino, who went 3-for-4 with six RBIs and a double. Marino drove in more than half of Northbridge’s runs and scored once in the victory.
Alex Vosburg also had a big night, finishing 3-for-3 with two RBIs, two runs scored, a double, and a triple. Dylan Diosomito contributed a 3-for-3 performance with two RBIs, a double, and a run scored, while Jake Costello added a hit and scored three times.
Jackson Manosh chipped in a hit, an RBI, and a run scored, and Matt Coughlin drove in a run as Northbridge finished with 11 runs on 11 hits.
On the mound, Cody Veneziano earned the win with four scoreless innings, allowing four hits while striking out three. Evan Pupka closed out the final inning, preserving the shutout as Northbridge pitchers combined to allow just four hits and no runs.
Northboro was led offensively by Calvin Chan and Grady Bishop, who each recorded doubles. Brendan Hamann added a stolen base, but Post 234 was unable to push a run across against the Northbridge pitching staff.
