HOPKINTON – Hopkinton residents could soon see higher utility bills as town officials consider significant increases to water and sewer rates. The Water & Sewer Advisory Board has recommended raising water rates by 15% and sewer rates by 30% next year.
Town consultants told the Select Board that the increases are justified due to the upcoming connection to the Massachusetts Water Resources Authority (MWRA) system and rising sewer system costs. The Select Board is expected to vote on the proposal later this month.
