HOPKINTON – One of Hopkinton’s oldest restaurants is preparing to close its doors. After 93 years in business, Carbone’s Restaurant will officially close on June 27 to make way for a new municipal drinking water pump station tied to the town’s proposed MWRA water connection project.

Town officials are negotiating to purchase the property for the pump station and additional open space following Town Meeting approval. Reports indicate the restaurant’s owners had already been considering retirement and closure plans in recent years.
