BELLINGHAM – Police say no charges will be filed against the driver involved in last weekend’s fatal electric scooter crash in Bellingham. The victim, Darrell Maxfield, died Tuesday after spending several days at a trauma center following the collision on South Main Street Sunday evening.
Investigators say witnesses reported Maxfield struck a curb and then suddenly swerved into the path of the vehicle, giving the driver no time to avoid the collision. Police also noted the driver remained at the scene and cooperated fully with investigators.
