Franklin and Hopkinton Fire Departments Receive State Grants

FRANKLIN – The Franklin and Hopkinton Fire Departments have received state funding as part of a $5 million grant program awarded to 307 departments across Massachusetts for safety equipment upgrades.

Franklin received about $21,000 for lighting fixtures and structural firefighting gear, while Hopkinton was awarded about $11,000 to purchase one full set of personal protective equipment for a new hire and six sets of ballistic gear. Officials say the funding will enhance firefighter safety and readiness.
