The Uxbridge Spartans steamrolled No. 27 Immaculate Heart of Mary in a D4 preliminary playoff matchup, cruising to a 59-20 victory after building an overwhelming 34-5 halftime lead. Uxbridge finished the regular season 10-10 and entered the playoffs as the No. 18 seed, and the Spartans answered with a comprehensive team performance to open postseason play.

Emma Peloquin paced the offense with 13 points. Bronwyn LaChapelle supplied 12 points and seven steals while Lola Grube controlled the glass with six points and 17 rebounds, also altering shots with her presence around the rim. Uxbridge’s defensive pressure and ability to force turnovers created easy transition opportunities all night, and the Spartans’ depth allowed them to rotate players without losing a step. Each player left this one with a visible impact on the game result, which bodes very well for the Spartans.

Uxbridge now faces a tougher test tomorrow at 6 p.m. against the No. 15-seeded Amesbury Red Hawks, a club that went 13-7 in the regular season. The matchup is unfamiliar this year and should be competitive. Uxbridge will need another balanced effort and continued defensive intensity if it hopes to advance further in the bracket.
