Whitinsville Christian’s girls basketball team suffered a narrow 47-43 loss to Worcester Tech on Tuesday night, a competitive matchup that saw the Eagles hold a 29-26 edge heading into the fourth quarter. Both teams traded baskets in the final period, but Worcester Tech outscored the Crusaders by one in the frame to secure the win.

Cahmya Brown spearheaded Worcester Tech’s attack with 21 points. For Whitinsville Christian, Cadence Calarese led the Crusaders with 17 points, but that production wasn’t enough to snap Whitinsville’s late-season slide. The loss was the Crusaders’ fourth straight and dropped them to 5-15 on the year.

Whitinsville Christian sits as the No. 64 seed in the D4 playoff picture and will not make the cutoff for postseason play. While the Crusaders endured a second straight losing season, the 5-15 finish represents an improvement from last year’s 2-18 mark. As the offseason approaches, Whitinsville will look to develop its young players and build toward a return to winning form with the goal of reaching and competing in next year’s playoff field.
