HOPKINTON — Security cameras are coming to more of the town’s recreation areas in an effort to improve safety and oversight.

At this week’s Parks & Recreation Commission meeting, the Parks & Rec Director said the department has been working closely with the Town’s IT Department to determine the best way to run camera feeds to various locations.

According to the Hopkinton Independent, a wired camera has already been installed at the Fruit Street athletic field, with two more cameras on the way. At EMC Park, IT plans to install cellular-based cameras to provide coverage where hardwired connections are not feasible.

Funding for the expanded camera system is coming from the Community Preservation Committee.
