FRANKLIN — Franklin High School graduate Sabira Ablatt has been awarded the Friends of Franklin Library Wilma Winters Scholarship toward her college education.
Ablatt received $1,000 based on an essay describing how the Franklin Library inspired her love of reading and motivated her commitment to serving the community. She is currently in her second semester at Cornell University studying mechanical engineering.
Franklin Matters reports the scholarship honors Wilma Winters, a longtime Franklin resident and devoted library supporter, who previously worked as a librarian for Boston University’s Medical School and Harvard’s School of Public Health.
Library officials say the award celebrates both academic achievement and the lasting impact public libraries can have on young people’s lives.
