HOLLISTON – A fire at a business on Everett Street Tuesday was apparently caused by an electrical malfunction involving equipment on the roof.
The Holliston Fire Department says crews responded after smoke was spotted coming from the roof of the building. Firefighters accessed the roof using ground ladders and discovered a malfunction in industrial heat cables, which are designed to melt ice and help ensure proper roof drainage.
Officials say the malfunction caused a small fire, but firefighters were able to quickly contain it and prevent the flames from spreading into the interior of the building.
No injuries were reported, and the incident remains under investigation, though officials say the cause appears to be accidental.
