FRANKLIN – Another biotechnology company is closing a MetroWest operation.
Thermo Fisher Scientific has announced plans to shut down its facility on Forge Parkway in Franklin, a move that will result in more than 100 employees being downsized by the end of 2027.
The news comes just a day after reports that Harvard Bioscience is closing its Holliston facility and relocating operations to Minnesota, marking a second major biotech departure from the region in as many days.
According to the Worcester Business Journal, Thermo Fisher’s decision follows recent leadership changes at the Waltham-based company. Last week, two senior executives announced they were leaving Thermo Fisher Scientific for other professional opportunities.
The company has not yet released additional details about the timeline of layoffs or whether any operations will be relocated elsewhere.
